What Is Harber MIM Process?
The Full Name Of MIM Is Metal Injection Molding. It Is A Molding Method, Which Injects The Metal Powder And Plasticizing Mixture Of Binder Into The Mold.
Firstly, We Mix The Metal Powder With Plastic Binder. Then, Granulate The Mixture And Inject It Into The Mold. The Mixture Get The Feature Of Polymer, Which Are Viscidity And Flow. It Is Helpful For Molding, Mold Filling And The Homogeneity Of Powder Packing. Then, Sinter The Defatted Blank. Some Of The Sintering Products Need Densifying Treatment, Heat Treatment And Machining Treatment. Sintering Products Not Only Have The Complex Shape And High Precision As The Products Made By Plastic Injection Molding, But Also Have The Physical, Chemical And Mechanical Property As Forge Piece.
This Technology Is Suitable For Mass Volume Production To Make Small Size, Precise, Complicated 3D-Shaped Metal Parts Which Also Require Special Performance.
Injection Machine Workinig Principle
The working principle of injection machine is similar to that of the syringe used for plastic. It is a process of injecting the plasticized melt state (i.e. viscous flow state) into the closed cavity with the help of the screw (or plunger) to obtain the product after solidification and shaping.
Injection molding is a cycle process, each cycle mainly includes: quantitative feeding - melt plasticization - pressure injection - filling cooling - opening parts. After removing the plastic parts, the mould is closed again for the next cycle.
MIM material includes metal powder and binders. Simply, we mix the two materials according to a proper rate, in a proper order, under high temperature and shear forces, so as to get a well-distributed structure combined material, then, pelleted by the granulator. Because of the binders, the material after pelleted have good fluidity, and can be fully filled into the molds. After forming, degreasing the binders from the blanks and sinter them, so to have the final products.
